Swan Lake

Ok, so perhaps this isn’t exactly a lake, it’s only a pond. But ‘Swan Pond’ just doesn’t have as nice of a ring to it.

I took these pictures when I was out by Arthur’s Seat with Hana in December. It’s amazing how all these birds have really settled down in this area, they seem to always be around. They are so used to humans as people are always there feeding them, which is a very good thing if you want to get close to take pictures. I even stroked a few of them when they were standing next to me, I’ve never really dared to do that with swans before as they mostly tend to want to bite you. These birds did indeed try to carefully nibble at my hands when I was trying to touch them, but unfortunately I had nothing with me to feed them with… Maybe next time!

The light was nothing special for most of the time, although I did get lucky with a break in the clouds for a few minutes. I think that the pictures I took during this brief moment have such a lovely golden haze to them.
